French Semi-Vowels and Its Teaching for Chinese-Speaking Learners

The three French semi-vowels [j], [w], and [?] present challenges noteworthy problems to Chinese-speaking learners of French. Despite the fact that few domestic studies are related with their inclusion in textbooks, uniqueness has always revealed itself learning process pronunciation. This paper, focusing on French, intends elaborate phonetic features these semi-vowels; following that, an exploration reasons for exception words rules is conducted from perspective etymology. Since have vowel-like sounds but act like consonants, performance some rules, such as syllabication, word stress, aspiration voiceless stops, analyzed. study implications teaching
